February: Chabela Wedding Cake
- 175 grams refined
- 300 grams cake flour, sifted three times
- 17 eggs
- grated peel of one lime
The significance of having a recipe of the Chabela Wedding Cake is of course, the wedding of Rosaura and Pedro, the love of Tita's life. Once again, Tita was completely heartbroken. Once again before the wedding, Tita and Pedro met to say goodbye to the relationship they once had. "Don't play innocent with me. You'll be sorry if I ever catch you around Pedro again," (Esquivel, 38). The threats of Mama Elena had set Tita back into a more heartbroken state. Tita dreamed all of her life of marrying Pedro. She wanted her own Chabela Wedding Cake. Unfortunately, thanks to the tradition, Tita couldn't live her dream.
